March

Sun 9th March Washers Pit and Ashmore. From snowdrops to bluebells. The 9th June is the day for the bluebells (hopefully). So I shall take you somewhere where there may be bluebells. Or we can stare at empty woodlands. Another 7½ mile walk I think. Len

Sun 16th March Start point is Sandyballs cycle centre, Godshill. Two options on the day 10 miles or 20 miles, its up to you! We will be cycling along Hampton ridge, observing panoramic views over the forest to Royal Oak pub, where we will have our lunch. This route is mainly undulating, but prepare yourself for a few short but challenging climbs. We cycle on gravel tracks through heath land where we will pass new forest ponies, we also pass through wooded areas. Other stops include Jamesmoor pond, Linwood, and Gorley. You can hire a mountain bike for the day for £15 from the cycle centre.. Go to www.sandyballscyclecentre.co.uk for more information. Phone Kerri for start time.

Sun 23rd March Piddle and Cerne Valley. A walk of 8½ miles starting at Piddletrenthide. Fairly flat hopefully if following a valley. Or not. Call Bob

Thurs 27th March Let's Get Quiz-ical. Dean Park Inn, Cemetary Junction, Bournemouth Meet at 8pm New Landlord - New Format! Call Bob or Jackie

Sun 30th March Franham and the Valley of the Tarrant A walk of 8 ½ miles starting at Franham, this walk takes you past the elegant Chettle House, the hidden Chettle long Barrow and the strangely missing Eastbury House that is crying out for somebody to write a gothic novel about. Call Bob for time and starting point

Wed 16th April Kayaking in Christchurch Harbour. Waterproof tops, buoyancyaids supplied, for those who feel the cold you can borrow a wetsuit. Due to popular demand, on this occasion I am only able to offer this session to beginners. Limited places, £5-7 per person, payable on the evening. Text or phone Kerri for venue and start time.

Sun 20th April Old Wardour Castle I know what you’re going to say. It’s so far to drive! But it is worth making the effort. I can highly recommend this walk just to explore the ruins of this fascinating castle. This is probably the most scenic walk on the entire programme. It takes you passed parklands and lakes where we shall have lunch at the foot of castle. Call Len
